基于上述情况,在进一步的研究工作中,除了对各种方法继续进行全面深入的研究外,还应考虑将各种自整定法互相结合、渗透,充分发挥各自优势来弥补不足。如将自适应、自整定和增益计划设定有机结合,使其具有自动诊断功能;结合专家经验知识、直觉推理逻辑等专家系统思想和方法,对原有PID控制器设计思想及整定方法进行改进;将预测控制、模糊控制和PID控制相结合,进一步提高控制系统性能,这些都是PID控制极有前途的发展方向。
